PSYCHOLOGICAL AND EDUCATIONAL ASSESSMENTS

 Psychological and Educational Assessments help identify academic strengths and weaknesses and can be useful for parents and educators to make informed decisions regarding a child or adolescent's individual learning needs and optimal learning environment. They are also used to assist with diagnosis, develop appropriate interventions and help determine eligibility for individual school funding to assist with learning and applications for NDIS funding. 

MRP Psychological Services provides comprehensive assessments for the diagnosis of: 

• Intellectual giftedness
• Specific Learning Disorders
• Intellectual Disability
• Autism
• Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

Pre- Assessment Consultation: 

A pre- assessment consultation will be conducted with the child/adolescent’s parents or caregiver prior to the assessment to gather information with regards to the child/adolescent’s presenting issues and developmental history. 

Based on the information provided and the reason for the assessment referral, the most appropriate assessment/s (if any) will then be determined. Parents/ care givers are also given the opportunity to discuss any concerns or raise any questions regarding the assessment. 

Assessment/s 

The determined assessment/s are then completed. This may include, but is not limited to, a clinical interview with parents or the child, child observation (both in a clinical and school setting), administration of specific psychometric screeners or tools and contact with schools or other treating parties.

Once completed, a full comprehensive report of the findings as well as strategies and recommendations are developed. 

Feedback Session

Following the completion of the assessment and report, parents/ caregivers are offered a feedback session to discuss the findings and recommendations of the assessment and receive a hard copy of the comprehensive report.
